May 18, 2013 Old Time
Jubilee
10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Every year the town of Allensworth had a big bash. This
is the time of year when the carnival came to town. The
Friends of Allensworth provide a great family festival atmosphere with entertainment featuring...gospel, jazz and
drama. There are activities strictly
for the young and even the toddlers. In addition
to the free self paced tours of the historic
buildings, you can talk to some of the original pioneers and
their heirs. This is the best family
bargain in the state, because there is more.
You can even shop at the open air arts and craft market. When
you get hungry, you can eat a variety of some of the
best ethnic food for miles around.
June 8, 2013 Juneteenth
Celebration
10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Join us for the 16th annual celebration. There's plenty
of sunshine for those who love warm weather. This day
is celebrated by African Americans in honor of their ancestors
who received notice of being set free from slavery later (June
19th) than the majority of slaves elsewhere in the country. There's
great entertainment, great speakers, and of course, a fabulous
tour of the historic buildings given free by the Friends of
Allensworth volunteers for your educational experience. Lots
of great food and beverages as well.
October 12, 2013 Rededication
10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Join us for the annual Rededication, the last event of the year. This festive event is presented to renew our commitment to the park and its symbolic representation of self determination for all African Americans in the area of education and economic development.
